Savouring Spring in Kelowna, BC

A confluence of breathtaking landscapes and world-class wines, the Spring Okanagan Wine Festival is a captivating celebration held annually in June in Kelowna. This event invites wine lovers from all over the world to indulge in the rich variety of Okanagan wines, with over 100 wineries participating in this grand celebration.

The festival officially launches at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Friday, June 7. The evening starts with a private reception for the British Columbia Wine Awards, where the 2024 BC TOP 50 and Wine of the Year will be announced. Judged by a panel of esteemed wine experts, the BC TOP 50 wines will debut publicly at the Valley First presents BC TOP 50 Grand Tasting.

The TASTE Series returns, featuring exclusive regional programming from North to South Okanagan. Events kick off with the Naramata Bench Wineries Association on Sunday, June 2, followed by the District Wine Village on June 8 and 9. On Thursday, June 13, Sandhill Wines in Kelowna hosts a Rosé-focused TASTE Series event, concluding with the Scenic Sip Wine Trail in Lake Country on Sunday, June 23. Each TASTE Series event includes six unique experiences, with a Designated Driver ticket available for $40.

New for 2024 are two anchor events in the SIPS Series. Valley First presents SUMMER SIPS at Spirit Ridge Resort in Osoyoos on Saturday, June 8. Guests will enjoy an afternoon of BC wine tasting paired with culinary delights from The Bear, The Fish, The Root, and The Berry, with stunning views from the rooftop patio. On the festival's final weekend, Destination SilverStar will partner with the festival to present Valley First SOLSTICE SIPS at SilverStar Resort in Vernon on Saturday, June 22. This event features BC wineries, live entertainment, and a picturesque mountaintop backdrop.

In addition to these signature events, numerous special events will be hosted by partners throughout the Okanagan Valley. One highlight is the Father’s Day BBQ and Blues at Nighthawk Vineyards in Okanagan Falls, in collaboration with the Heart of Wine Country wineries.

In addition to its wine-centric events, the festival promotes sustainable practices, encouraging participants to respect the environment. Many of the participating wineries practice organic or biodynamic farming, further solidifying the Okanagan Valley as a region committed to sustainability.

Notably, the Spring Okanagan Wine Festival coincides with the blooming of the region's orchards, adding an extra layer of allure to this event. The panoramic views of vineyards against the backdrop of the sparkling Okanagan Lake, framed by lush green mountains and clear blue skies, make this festival a truly unforgettable experience.

In summary, the Spring Okanagan Wine Festival is an enchanting celebration of wines, gourmet food, stunning landscapes, and the spirit of the Okanagan Valley. A visit to this festival is a journey that immerses you in a world of fine wines, captivating vistas, and memorable encounters. Mark your calendars for June and get ready to explore the best of what Kelowna, BC, has to offer.
